International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised leading international energy fund Platina Partners LLP (“Platina”) on the restructuring of its Anemoi Cantillana (Seville) photovoltaic plant via a loan from Unicredit (London branch). WFW has also recently advised Platina on the restructuring of its photovoltaic plants at Morón (Seville) and Mesa de Ocaña (Toledo), also financed by Unicredit (London branch). The combined installed capacity of the three plants is 20 MW.

The WFW Madrid team advising Platina was led by Madrid Office Head and corporate Partner María Pilar García Guijarro, working closely with finance Senior Associate José María Anarte and Associates Juan Vicente Barquilla and Gonzalo Mateos. Partner David Diez and Associate Lidia Fernández advised on regulatory matters. Outside of Madrid, Paris Office Head and Partner Laurence Martinez-Bellet advised on the French law aspects of the transaction. Loyens & Loeff acted as Netherlands and Luxembourg legal counsel.

Maria Pilar commented: “I’m delighted Platina opted for WFW to advise them on the restructurings of their Spanish photovoltaic portfolio. This follows on from having advised on all the major Spanish renewables project refinancings since the recent regulatory reforms, including those of T-Solar (Tuin Zonne), Olivento, Renovalia, Inverland and Guadalta amongst others, clearly demonstrating WFW’s standing as the  ‘go-to’ firm bar none in the sector. That a leading bank with a real global footprint was willing to invest in the financing of Spanish renewables projects is also a demonstration of the confidence and interest international investors have in the industry”.
