Alexander is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution Group in the London office. Alexander trained at the firm and, in addition to eight months spent in the London Dispute Resolution group, he spent eight months in the Dispute Resolution group of WFW’s Bangkok office, where he focused on a number of different construction, manufacturing and shipping disputes.

Alexander has experience in a wide range of international disputes, including construction and engineering disputes, design and manufacturing disputes, dry shipping and shipbuilding disputes and general commercial litigation.

Experience Open

    Alexander’s experience includes:
    • Acting on behalf of a developer in respect of a series of linked adjudications concerning high profile and high value, high end residential developments.
    • Advising a South East Asian coal-fired power plant operator in relation to potential arbitration proceedings for non-payment, arising out of construction delays and defects, being brought by the construction contractor.
    • Advising a South Asian government and related state entities in respect of existing ICSID arbitrations, brought by a Canadian oil and gas exploration company, arising out of gas well blowouts.
    • Acting for a Swedish energy company in relation to the failure of an offshore sub-sea export cable and a potential claim arising out of that failure.
    • Advising a major Thai newsprint producer in a US$multi-million pulp and paper dispute with a Chinese paper machine supplier. The matter was in Hong Kong arbitration and subject to Chinese law.
    • Acting for the owner of a holistic resort in Tanzania in relation to an ICC arbitration against the hotel operator for breach of the management agreement.
    • Acting on behalf of a Thai can manufacturer in arbitration proceedings (a claim in excess of US$600m) in Thailand, under UNCITRAL rules, against a world-leading producer of liquid milk, following the termination of an exclusive can supply contract.
    • Advising the bond trustee in relation to enforcing various securities in relation to vessel owning / bareboat chartering companies for 2 offshore diving support vessels.
    • Advising a large Thai ship owner in relation to multiple disputes arising out of the collapse of OW Bunkers and the subsequent non-payment of the physical bunker suppliers.
    • Acting for charterers in a charterparty dispute relating to delays at the discharge port in Malaysia due to “force majeure” events affecting the delivery of the intended cargo.
    • Acting for a Korean EPC contractor in connection with a £multi-million claim under an EAR insurance policy in respect of the construction of a seawater cooling system at a combined-cycle power plant in Ghana.
