Axel Löhde is a partner in the Corporate Group in the Hamburg office of Watson Farley & Williams LLP.

Axel specializes in large- and medium-sized firms and advises their shareholders on all corporate matters, assisting them with succession planning and representing them in court and arbitration proceedings. Furthermore he has advised for more than 30 years on national and cross-border joint ventures, M&A transactions and IP/IT projects.

Axel’s practice focuses on companies involved in chemicals, healthcare, energy, trading and information and communication technology.

Recommended for many years by the leading German directories and journals JUVE and Legal 500, Axel is also regularly appointed as a party representative and arbitrator in ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings and serves as an honorary judge and member of the presiding committee at the Hamburg Bar Court (Hamburgisches Anwaltsgericht) as well as vice chairman of the board of trustees for a large Hamburg foundation.

    • A number of family-owned and owner-led companies, as well as their shareholders, on M&A-transactions, IP/IT projects, operational business and on all matters of corporate law.
    • High net-worth individuals and entrepreneurial families regarding the planning and structuring of their investment portfolio and their national and international business and financial succession.
    • K.D. Feddersen Group on all matters in connection with the formation of a full-function joint venture for the manufacturing of Polyamid compounds.
    • Jones Lang LaSalle on all IT matters in connection with the acquisition of ACREST Group.
    • Tank & Rast on all IT matters in connection with the acquisition of call options for the majority of shares in Cittadino GmbH.
    • The French real estate group Unibail-Rodamco on all corporate matters in connection with on their €860m investment in the development of the Überseequartier Süd in the Hafencity Hamburg.
    • The majority shareholders of a major Southern German family-owned company in relation to the dismissal and withdrawal of the managing minority shareholder as well as with regard to the subsequent restructuring of the group.
    • The minority shareholders of a major North German family-owned company with regard to the defense of a €480m claim for damages from majority shareholder.
    • DAK-Gesundheit on the formation and drafting of an IT joint venture with a number of statutory and company health insurances with regard to the outsourcing of its entire IT division as well as advising on corporate law and complex IT development projects.
    • Several subsidiaries of French energy group GDF SUEZ, among others, in defending claims from a syndicate agreement in a semi-privatised municipal company, enforcement of claims for compensation after exclusion in an M&A-bidding process. Also advising on joint venture matters.
