Claire is a Senior Associate in the London Tax group. She is a chartered tax adviser who advises on a wide range of corporate and commercial tax matters.

Claire has a broad practice with particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganisations and finance.

Prior to joining Watson Farley & Williams last year, Claire was a Senior Solicitor in the Tax & Structuring group at Macfarlanes.

Experience Open

    Claire’s relevant experience includes advising:
    • Lightsource Renewable Energy on its agreement to enter into a partnership platform with UK Climate Investments to fund the development, acquisition and ownership of large scale solar power generation assets in India.
    • Blue Energy, a UK based renewable energy investor and developer,  in connection with the disposal of a portfolio of windfarms with a total capacity of 149 MW to funds managed by Octopus Investments.
    • Salutem Healthcare on the tax and structuring aspects of its acquisition of two specialist healthcare providers, Pathways Care Group and Modus Care.
    • Global Risk Partners Ltd, the independent insurance intermediary, on its acquisition of leading South West England insurance broker Higos Insurance Services.
    • The lenders to Chrysaor (backed by EIG Partners) on the tax aspects of Chrysaor’s proposed purchase of certain of Shell’s North Sea assets for a consideration of up to US$3.8bn.
    • Grivalia Hospitality on the agreement for the purchase of a 60% stake in the Pearl Island resort project in Panama from Dolphin Capital Investors.
    • A syndicate of banks consisting of BNP Paribas, BMO, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Danske Bank, DnB Bank, ING, The Royal Bank of Scotland, SEB, SR-Bank and Wells Fargo, on two major banking facilities, a US$250m RBL and a NOK1bn Norway Exploration Financing Facility, in favour of Faroe Petroleum to finance its expansion.
    • A family trust owned corporate group on a complex multinational reorganisation including preparation of structure paper, co-ordinating overseas lawyers and project-managing documentation and execution.
    • GAME Digital on its pre-IPO group reorganisation and listing on the main market of the London stock exchange.
    • Caledonia on its acquisition of Park Holidays and a number of years later on the subsequent refinancing to return 48% of the original investment.
    • Accor on its £100m acquisition of OneFineStay.
    • A private individual on a number of demergers and corporate reorganisations of his privately owned group including returns of capital to shareholders and benefit-in-kind charges.
