Leo Chang

Summary Open

Leo’s practice includes shipping, ship finance and general corporate and commercial transactions. In addition to advising on U.S. federal and New York laws, Leo advises on matters of Marshall Islands and Liberian corporate and maritime laws.  He is Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Coastguard Documentation, US Citizenship and Related Matters, to the Committee on Marine Financing of the Maritime Law Association of the United States.

Leo has been selected most recently in 2014 as a leading individual by Chambers USA (Transportation: Shipping: Finance), and by Best Lawyers (Maritime Law) and Super Lawyers NY Metro (Transportation/Maritime).


Experience Open

    • Acting for a syndicate of Scandinavian banks in connection with a U.S.$168,000,000 term loan facility secured by a fleet to U.S. flag car carriers.
    • Acting for the lender in respect of a U.S.$330,000,000 reducing secured revolving credit facility in favor of Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc.
    • Acting as special maritime counsel to the lenders in respect of a U.S.$825,000,000 credit facility in favor of General Maritime Corporation.
    • Acting for a U.S. Great Lakes shipowner in connection with its restructuring and refinancing of its fleet.
    • Acting for the Clipper Group in connection with its acquisition of the Lasco fleet.
