He advises German and international investors on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructurings, with a focus on renewable energy and infrastructure projects.

Recent transactions include acquisitions and sales of photovoltaic facilities as well as onshore and offshore wind energy projects. Furthermore, Matthias has also advised financial investors on the financing of such projects.

    Matthias’ experience includes advising:
    • PNE WIND AG on the sale of the Atlantis I wind park project to the Swedish utility Vattenfall. The project, which allows for up to 73 wind turbines, will be eligible for the transitional offshore wind project tenders in Germany taking place in early 2017 and 2018.
    • PNE WIND AG on the sale of 80% of its shares in its 142 MW wind farm portfolio to a fund managed by Allianz Global Investors GmbH. With a total enterprise value exceeding €330m, the transaction is the largest wind farm sale in PNE’s history.
    • Trackunit A/S on the acquisition of Dreyer + Timm GmbH.
    • STRABAG subsidiary on the sale of offshore wind farm project Global Tech II to Vattenfall.
    • A consortium of international banks on the €1.275bn financing of the 400 MW offshore wind farm Veja Mate in the German North Sea.
    • An international consortium of lenders led by Dexia Crédit Local and KfW IPEX on arranging project financing of the German offshore wind farm project Meerwind, with a total capacity of 288 MW and a total investment volume of €1.2bn.
    • EWE AG on all legal matters for the joint venture development of the German offshore wind farm Borkum West II – second phase.
