Martin Lucas joined Watson Farley & Williams as a Partner in December 2008 and heads the London Energy & Infrastructure group. He has 15 years experience of advising on projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors worldwide. His recent experience includes advising developers, debt and equity funders in the offshore wind sector, where he has advised on projects in the UK, Germany, Belgium, Denmark and most recently the USA both during the development and construction phases, as well as acquisitions and disposals. Martin worked in a commercial and technical capacity for a large UK developer for nearly 10 years before qualifying as a lawyer.

Martin is routinely ranked by Legal 500 and Chambers as a leading specialist. Chambers 2016 comments that Martin “understands commercially what’s going on in addition to the legal side of things”.

    • DONG Energy on turbine supply and service and warranty agreements (including amendments to those) at London Array Offshore Wind Farm.
    • DONG Energy on various commercial contracts at Walney Offshore Wind, Gunfleet Sands Offshore Wind, and West of Duddon Sands.
    • Vattenfall on various commercial agreements at the Thanet and Ormonde Offshore Wind Farms.
    • Vattenfall on disposal of offshore transmission (OFTO) assets at Thanet and Ormonde Offshore Wind Farms.
    • NRG Energy on wrapped EPC Contract with leading EPC contractor for a development stage of offshore wind farm.
    • Falck Renewables on commercial contracts, including turbine supply, service and warranty and connection agreements for a number of onshore wind farms in England and Wales.
    • First State Investments on potential acquisition of offshore wind farm in Denmark.
    • PepsiCola Company on development and construction of captive biomass plant in Scotland to produce electricity and steam.
    • Rosetti Marino on a number of EPCI contracts for oil & gas facilities in the North Sea.
    • Wind developers on a number of defects claims in connection with offshore wind farms in the UK.
