Summary Open

Mark Tooke joined Watson Farley & Williams from the Department of Trade and Industry in 2001 and became a partner in 2008. He has a varied commercial and corporate practice, encompassing acquisitions, domestic and international joint ventures, venture capital and private equity transactions and a broad range of commercial arrangements, including distribution, agency and licensing with a focus on three core sectors: maritime/offshore, energy and infrastructure, and technology.

While at the DTI, Mark spent three years advising the UK Patent Office and the DTI on the operational, regulatory and legislative aspects of intellectual property and he continues to have a particular focus on the corporate and commercial aspects of IP.

Experience Open

    Mark’s experience includes advising:
    • On corporate, corporate finance and commercial aspects for a business developing and commissioning an aircraft location technology spun out from the Ministry of Defence.
    • The CSL Group, Inc. on its acquisition of the floating assets and associated contracts of the European belted self‐unloader shipping and rock installation businesses of Kristian Jebsen Rederi and establishment of CSLʹs European operations.
    • Teekay LNG and Marubeni Corporation on the establishment of their Malt LNG joint venture relative to their successful bid for and purchase of Maersk LNG A/S, the holding company within A.P. Moller‐Maersk, for its fleet of eight LNG carriers.
    • A global maritime investment fund in relation to several shipping joint ventures focused on newbuildings, and acquisitions of vessels and vessel owning SPVs.
    • Tamar Energy, the UK anaerobic digestion (AD) plant development company on securing £32m in financing for its portfolio of five AD plants.
    • Various funds managed by NOY of Israel with three investments into UK waste-to-energy projects.
    • DONG Energy Power A/S on issues relating to its investment and participation in Better Place Denmark, the development of a countrywide electric car recharge infrastructure.
    • Duedil Ltd, operator of a leading website offering access to company and business information, on corporate, corporate finance, commercial/IT and data protection matters.
    • Chinsay AB, a Stockholm headquartered provider of software as a service to the marine chartering community, on the legal aspects of its commercial and technical operations.
