Nigel is a Corporate Partner based in London. His practice spans the full range of corporate transactions, from M&A, corporate structuring, privatisations and joint ventures through to fundraisings, particularly with regard to the commodities, insurance, natural resources and transportation sectors.

Nigel is especially well known for his work within the rail industry and advising on concessions, pit to port projects, UK rail franchise bids and mobilisation and implementations. He has also advised on projects in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and extensively throughout Asia-Pacific, particularly Mongolia.

Experience Open

    Nigel’s experience includes advising:
    • Global Risk Partners Ltd, the private equity-backed insurance intermediary, on its investment programme in UK insurance companies, including specialist retail broker Cavendish Munro Professional Risks, specialist Lloyd’s broker Lonmar Global Risks, Alan & Thomas Insurance Group, Green Insurance Group, Marshall Wooldridge, Higos Insurance Services, Abbey Bond Lovis and Ropner Insurance Services.
    • Arriva on multiple franchise bids, including Northern Rail, South Western, East Midlands and InterCity East Coast, and on the disposal of its commercial vehicle division.
    • Brazilian investment bank BTG Pactual (now Englehart Commodities Partners) on the establishment of its global commodities business.
    • The Government of Guinea on the transportation aspects of the Simandou South Project.
    • Monpolymet, one of Mongolia’s largest mining, mineral exploration, rehabilitation and construction companies, on its equity participation in an EBRD financed project and its technical consultancy arrangements for that project.
    • Hansen Beitiligung, the German based retail property developer and operator, on the UK aspects of a pan European group restructuring.
