WFW Partner Linh Doan honoured among 18 outstanding overseas Vietnamese at Spring Homeland 202524 January 2025

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is proud to announce that Linh Doan, WFW Vietnam Office Head and Asia Projects and Corporate Group Head, has been recognised as one of the 18 outstanding Vietnamese overseas residents (from a community of over 6m worldwide) for her significant contributions to the Vietnamese homeland and community. This Certificate of Merit, which was required to undergo a procedure set out under Vietnamese law and was nominated and approved by various state agencies, was presented during the “Spring Homeland 2025” programme, an annual event celebrating the achievements and contributions of overseas Vietnamese. Speaking to congratulate the delegation, Chairman Do Van Chien of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, a member of the Politburo and Secretarial Committee of the Party, awarded the Certificate of Merit to each of the 18 outstanding individuals.

The award ceremony, held in Hanoi, was attended by prominent Vietnamese leaders and representatives from various sectors. Linh Doan was honoured for her exceptional work in building, gathering and uniting the Vietnamese community abroad, contributing to her homeland’s development and participating in various initiatives and charity events by the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The “Spring Homeland 2025” programme included many meaningful activities for the exemplary overseas Vietnamese delegation. The delegation visited the President’s Mausoleum, laid flowers at the memorial of heroic martyrs, offered incense at Kinh Thien Palace and attended the carp release ceremony with the President and his wife.

Especially, the Party General Secretary highlighted the country’s significant achievements in 2024, particularly in socio-economics, national defence and security and foreign affairs. He emphasised the Party and State’s determination to usher Vietnam into a new era of national development. Key initiatives include Vietnam’s commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2050 as well as resuming nuclear power plant construction and the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City high-speed railway project which will boost transport networks within Vietnam and promote trade with other countries in the region. During these events, members of the delegation shared their thoughts, aspirations and opinions on promoting Vietnamese national solidarity.

In addition, the delegation also met with the Chairperson of the Congress and the chairman of the People’s Committee.

Linh Doan expressed her gratitude, stating: “It is an immense honour to be recognised among such distinguished individuals. I will continue to contribute to and be involved in important projects in Vietnam, especially in the energy and transport sectors, as well promote my commitment to excellence and community service in both Vietnam and globally”.
