WFW shortlisted for Digital Legal Services at FT Innovative Lawyers Europe Awards 202222 September 2022

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is delighted to announce that its Global Aviation Restructuring Index (“GARI”) has been shortlisted for the Digital Legal Services award at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Europe 2022 awards.

Launched in October 2021, GARI is WFW’s online interactive legal analytics tool which offers a comparative index of over 55 restructuring procedures available in 30 key aviation jurisdictions. Freely available to all aviation sector participants, GARI assigns debtor and creditor ‘friendliness’ scores to complex restructuring procedures to make high-level comparisons easy to digest. In January 2022, in response to positive feedback, WFW added four new jurisdictions to GARI to further enhance its use worldwide.

The FT Innovative Lawyers Europe are a celebration of the best in innovation from law firms and in-house legal teams across Europe, highlighting innovation in areas including sustainability, diversity and digital transformation. Taking place in-person for the first time since 2019, the awards will be held in London’s Natural History Museum and provide a critical touch point for the legal industry after much time apart.

Global Aviation Sector Co-Head Jim Bell commented: “I am delighted that we have been shortlisted for the Digital Legal Services award in recognition of GARI. This shortlisting highlights the innovation involved in creating this tool and is a testament to the expertise and commitment of all those involved in developing GARI”.

Aviation Partner Dominic Pearson, editor of the index, added: “Our hope is that GARI can become the premier analytical tool for the aviation industry for restructuring as well as for information on credit approval processes for future financing and leasing transactions. Being shortlisted for this award just shows how much of an impact GARI has already made on the industry in under a year”.

The FT Innovative Lawyers Europe Awards will take place on 13 October 2022.
