Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is delighted to announce that it has won the ‘Net Zero Transition Award’ at the prestigious IFLR Middle East Law Awards 2024. Dubai Projects Partner Mhairi Main Garcia and Corporate Partner Al Holland accepted the award on behalf of the firm at a gala dinner in Dubai.
Each year, the IFLR Middle East Awards celebrate success, innovation and dedication in the legal sector across the region. This year, IFLR launched the Net Zero Transition Award to recognise an outstanding initiative or project making significant contributions to the global pursuit of net zero, whether through innovative internal or external projects that materially improve sustainability, helping clients decarbonise, or delivering projects that provide net zero solutions to the market. WFW was honoured in recognition of its multifaceted ‘Countdown to COP: Financing and Fuelling the Future’ podcast and event campaign series, a project which encapsulated the award’s key principles.
Led by Mhairi, WFW’s Countdown to COP campaign was a collaborative cross-sector and cross-practice project covering thought leadership across the firm’s core sectors of aviation, infrastructure, maritime, mining and commodities, oil & gas and renewables.
Mhairi commented: “I am incredibly honoured to receive this award on behalf of the firm. The award is a reflection of the collective efforts of our dedicated team who delivered a fantastic and insightful podcast series, engaging client events and supported local sustainable initiatives here in Dubai, in an effort to move the dial towards a net zero future. Well done to everybody involved”.
WFW Dubai Office Head Charlotte Bijlani commented: “I am delighted that WFW has won the Net Zero Transition Award at IFLR’s Middle East Law Awards. This outstanding achievement demonstrates the exceptional market reputation of our energy practice in the Middle East and our expert sector specialist teams across our international network. Congratulations to everyone involved in this significant achievement”.
