The second webinar of our new German webinar series “Recht trifft Praxis” (“Law Meets Practice”) focussed on “Hi-Tech vs. Lo-Tech – How much smart does a property need?”.

Within the webinar series, our team covered a number of selected topics in the field of construction planning and explain them in more detail with the help of an industry expert. Participants gained an overview of the current legal framework and solutions for practical implementation – in a concise and informative way.

The topic on Thursday, 22 June 2023 was “Hi-Tech vs. Lo-Tech – How much smart does a property need?“. Managing Associate Annekathrin Hoffmann guided participants through the exciting topic and Mr Frank Knafla and Mr Frank Schröder from Phoenix Contact Electronics gave an interesting presentation. Finally, WFW Associate Julia Grolla looked at the framework conditions under labour law and data protection in particular.

Is smart the future in real estate? Will the transformation to a sustainable real estate industry only succeed through smart buildings, especially in the revitalisation of existing buildings? From a legal perspective, the focus is primarily on the end users and thus the employees of the real estate owners or tenants. Who owns the data collected by a smart building? Does the employee have to fear that the employer will use this data to take legal action under labour law? With a view to practice, we wanted to develop approaches to solutions on how these uncertainties can be eliminated on the owner and user side.

Please note that the webinar was in German.
