October marks Black History Month in the UK. This is a time to celebrate those who have achieved great things and consider the progress that has been made, but it can be more than a retrospective of the past – it is also about looking to the future and reminding us of the work still left to do.
The theme for Black History Month 2023 ‘Saluting our Sisters’ pays homage to black women who have shaped history, inspired change and built communities.
In recognition of this theme, MOSAIC, WFW’s Ethnic & Racial Diversity Network, marked the occasion by showcasing the stories of leading black women from the world of business and law.
Through MOSAIC’s ‘Saluting our Sisters’ video series, London Disputes Resolution Partner Theresa Mohammed spoke with Susan McFarlane, General Counsel and Company Secretary at Mitsubishi UFJ Trust International Limited, Darcey Bourne, Practice Manager at 39 Essex Chambers and Claire Ezekwe, Senior Associate Director at Apache Capital Partners.
Susan, Claire and Darcey shared their thoughts on mentoring and sponsorship, the steps we can take to further the careers of talent from diverse backgrounds and what we can do to support the next generation of black female leaders.
You can view the recordings of both interviews below and find out more about our MOSAIC Network here.
