At Watson Farley & Williams we are committed to building our disability confidence and further developing our inclusive working environment.
In recognition of Disability History Month, we partnered with Tori Towers, solicitor, and member of the Law Society’s Disabled Solicitors Network, to discuss disability inclusion in the legal profession. Tori, whose career spans boutique and global law firms as well as the charity sector, is deeply passionate about increasing access to the legal field for neurodivergent individuals and those living with chronic illnesses.
We invite you to watch the full conversation with Tori below to learn more about how we can all contribute to building a more inclusive legal profession.
During an engaging conversation, Tori shared insights drawn from the Legally Disabled report, lived experiences of disabled professionals and the vital role inclusive language plays in creating a supportive work environment. The discussion coincided with the Law Society’s launch of new guidance on disability-inclusive terminology, a timely resource for organisations striving to build disability confidence.
As part of our ongoing efforts to promote disability inclusion, we are taking actionable steps, including:
- partnering with organisations like the Business Disability Forum (BDF) to strengthen our Firm’s Disability Confidence;
- engaging with the MyPlus Employers’ Club to promote early careers opportunities to candidates with a disability or long-term health condition; and
- refreshing and refining our London office workplace adjustment process in line with best practice, ensuring our people have the necessary tools to succeed in their role.
