Andy is a Partner in the CORPORATE AND M&A GROUP.
Andy’s practice focusses on domestic and cross-border M&A, joint ventures and private equity transactions.
He is experienced across a number of sectors with a particular focus on energy and infrastructure transactions. In the energy sector he principally advises on transactions involving renewable energy assets and the energy transition. In the infrastructure sector he has advised across a number of sub-sectors including digital infrastructure and social infrastructure: in the latter he regularly advises a number of financial sponsor backed operators.
Andy has also been involved in numerous emerging markets transactions, including in Africa, where he has advised private equity funds, infrastructure funds and leading corporates across a range of sectors and he has been described by Legal 500 as being “well informed about the African market”.
He has been ranked by legal directories Legal 500 and IFLR for a number of years with the 2025 edition of Legal 500 describing him as “a highly adept transaction lawyer” and as being “routinely sought out by private equity clients for cross-border acquisition expertise”. In 2024, Legal 500 client commentary included “Andy Savage is a standout partner. He is strong on corporate law matters and has strong energy and infrastructure knowledge making him a go-to person for M&A deals in these areas”.
- Advising global solar developer Lightsource bp on the sale of a portfolio of 58 operational assets to a consortium comprising GLIL Infrastructure and Bluefield Solar Income Fund.
- Advising L&G NTR Clean Power (Europe) Fund, on its acquisition, alongside the Development Bank of Japan Inc., of a 10% stake in the 714 MW East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm from Macquarie Asset Management.
- Advising OMV AG and OMV Exploration & Production GmbH on the sale of 100% of the shares in OMV (U.K.) Limited to Siccar Point Energy Limited for circa US$1bn.
- Advising DIF, as manager of the Ampere Equity Fund, in respect of the divestment of AEF’s stake in the Walney 1 and 2 Offshore Wind Farms in the UK and of its stake in Carraig Gheal onshore wind farm in Scotland.
- Advising Leapfrog Investments on the acquisition of a circa 29% interest in AIICO Insurance plc, Nigeria’s second largest insurer by gross premiums, and on its acquisition of a 16.94% stake in Fidelity Bank Ghana Limited, Ghana’s largest privately owned bank.
