Dimitris Karamacheras

Dimitris is a partner in the Assets & structured Finance group.
He specialises in shipping finance and sale and leaseback transactions, regularly acting for major banks, financial institutions and shipping companies, advising them on all aspects of loan and security documentation and sale and leaseback structures.
His experience also includes acting for banking syndicates in complex debt restructuring as well as transfers of shipping portfolios from one bank to another.
He has vast knowledge of all aspects of shipping matters and regularly provides a commercial approach to the clients’ needs.
Raised and educated in London, Dimitris has also spent two years with the firm’s Hong Kong office, gaining experience working for some of the biggest names and key market players in the shipping industry.
- Advising United Overseas Group Ltd on the acquisition of United Arab Chemical Carriers Limited, which was the first merger to be effected under the Companies Law of the Dubai International Financial Centre. The deal won the Middle East ‘M&A Deal of the Year 2021’ by IFLR.
- Advising a syndicate of international lenders led by a French bank on the financing of the acquisition and lease back of 11 tankers on long term charters with a value of approximately US$190m. This deal won the Marine Money Editor’s Choice Award 2020.
- Advising CSIC Leasing Co. Ltd on a US$65.5m sale and leaseback transaction with Eletson Corporation, a Greek tanker owner and operator.
- Advising CA-CIB and HCOB on US$140m financing for GSL.
