KATERINA IS A SENIOR ASSOCIATE IN THE PROJECT & STRUCTURED FINANCE GROUP.
Katerina graduated in Law from the University of Munich in 2004 and holds a LL.M. from UCL in International Business Law as well as a Ph.D from the University of Munich in Comparative Private Law.
She joined Watson Farley & Williams in 2020 after more than 15 years in renowned commercial law firms and as in-house counsel in one of the major Greek systemic banks. She specialises in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, project transactions, corporate governance, complex real-estate matters and transactions in the energy, infrastructure and hospitality sector working with Greek and foreign investors, banks and senior management. She has also been advising and representing clients before Greek Courts on commercial law matters and banking disputes.
Katerina has written numerous contributions and case-law comments in renowned domestic and international academic publications on contractual and pre-contractual liability and other Greek civil law matters.
She is recognised as ‘Recommended Individual’ for Energy by Legal500 EMEA.
- Advised Aer Soléir and 547 Energy and their Greek wind project subsidiaries on the acquisition, financing, development and construction of three new utility-scale wind farms in Greece. All three projects have signed power purchase agreements with Amazon, representing its largest renewable energy deal in Greece to date.
- Advising Eurobank S.A. as mandated lead arranger and finance provider on a €315.34m project finance agreement with Enipeas Single-Member SA, a subsidiary of Lightsource bp, for the development of the Enipeas project, one of the largest solar projects in Europe with a nominal capacity of 560 MW.
- Advised Cantreva SA, the majority shareholder of a large PV portfolio held jointly with PPC Renewables, on their sale of 75% of the shares of Unagi S.A. to Motor Oil Renewable Energy (MORE). This deal won the gold award for “Best Corporate & Commercial Project” in the 2024 Business Law Awards, hosted by Boussias, the leading Greek and Cypriot B2B publisher (corporate).
- Advising Valorem Group on the project contract negotiation and debt financing of the 27 MW Magoula wind farm project in Kozani, Greece owned by its subsidiary Anatoliko Askio-Magoula SMSA.
- Advising Impax Asset Management Group Plc. on a solar PV joint venture with WATT+VOLT.
- Advised the owner and developer in a large urban regeneration project on residential assets sale agreements of a complex of properties in the Athens Riviera.
- Advised a foreign investor on due diligence, acquisition, and construction of luxury villas in Costa Navarino.
- Advised a global solar power developer on complex corporate matters in relation to share purchase and project development agreements for their Greek projects.
- Advised the corporate affiliate of an international bank in the bidding process and sale of its high-profile real assets in and closing and deregistration of its Greek branch.
- Advised a world leader in renewable energy on a reverse merger and local corporate restructuring matters.
- Advising Greek hotel groups in management, franchise and license agreements with international hotel brands.
- Advised major local student accommodation operators, on structuring and arranging the acquisition, sale & lease back contracts for student and mixed use serviced apartments in Greece.
- Advised a global investment and asset management in solar energy in connection with the development of their Greek PV projects, including matters of development services agreements and land securing.
- Advised a leading European solar energy developer, in relation to the acquisition and development of a 100 MW PV in Northern Greece.
- Providing ongoing advice to banks and corporates on corporate law issues including related parties’ transactions.
- Advised a US cruise line on commercial agency contentious matters with Greek agents.
- Advising foreign entities on insolvency matters of their Greek affiliates and branches.
