Lauren Satill is an associate in the Dispute Resolution Group.
Lauren is a foreign qualified lawyer. She began her career at a top international firm in Australia before moving to the United Kingdom.
Her practice focusses on environmental, social and governance matters with a keen interest in business and human rights. She has worked with a diverse range of clients on ESG matters, particularly focussing on modern slavery, human rights due diligence and reporting.
Lauren’s dispute resolution experience includes general commercial litigation, international arbitrations, class actions and employment litigation. She has worked on a variety of high-profile matters including for government bodies and publicly listed companies.
- Advising the Republic of Guinea on the US$15bn Simandou project, the world’s largest mining and related rail and port infrastructure project, including ESG due diligence reviews and applicability of international legal and contractual obligations.
- Advising an EPC contractor with respect to allegations of Gender Based Violence within its construction operations in East Africa.
- Advising a commodities trading company on the development of modern slavery policies, conducting risk assessments and preparing modern slavery statements.
- Advising a shipping company on the legal and reputational risks of making certain claims in sustainability reports.
- Acting for an Australian government body in relation to a class action brought against it in the Supreme Court of New South Wales alleging negligent administration.
- Acting for one of Australia’s largest construction materials companies in a case brought by the regulator regarding exposure of workers to silica dust.
- Investigating complaints of sexual harassment on behalf of an international media company.
