Marinos specialises in non-contentious maritimeand ship finance, acting mainly on behalf of private equity funds and ship-owning groups. His expertise includes working on shipbuilding contracts, supervision agreements, charterparties, ship management agreements, sale and purchase transactions as well as loan documentation, finance sale and leasebacks, IPOs and portfolio transfers. Marinos also advises on UK and EU aspects of maritime related sanctions.

  • Advised Okeanis, the Piraeus-headquartered international shipping group, on the oversubscribed US$100m IPO of its new eco-friendly US$1bn crude tanker fleet.
  • Advised Teekay Offshore on the successful completion of a major strategic investment and financing initiatives linked to the US$610m equity investment in Teekay Offshore by Brookfield.
  • Advised a joint venture between one of the big three Japanese shipowners and a Greek shipowner in connection with the financing and purchase of two LNG carriers.
  • Advised a US fund on a Chinese sale and leaseback deal in respect of two LNG carriers.
  • Advised a large international cruise line on various financing and commercial contracts, including amendments of an ECA backed financing and drydocking agreement with a USA based shipyard.
  • Advised a Brazilian owner of offshore assets in connection with the bareboat chartering in of one offshore rig.
  • Acted on behalf of a private equity fund in relation to the sale and leaseback of two LPG carriers.
  • Conducted due diligence in respect of the facility agreements, JOLCOs, Chinese leasing structures and other documents applicable to an NYSE listed owner of containerships in light of a proposed corporate reorganisation.
  • Advised various listed and private ship owners in connection with UK and EU sanctions compliance of certain trades.
  • Advised banks and lessors in respect of negotiations around the sanctions wording of their financing documentation.
