Pip has experience advising on a range of corporate, property, and banking transactions as well as assisting with ad hoc queries in those areas. Particular areas of experience include assisting with corporate acquisitions, providing complex SDLT advice, and advising on the VAT implications of property transactions.

  • Advised a Jersey Property Unit Trust on the refinancing of three build-to-rent tower blocks, with mixed short, medium, and long term lets.
  • Advised on the SDLT treatment of a hotel portfolio where new leases were entered into annually in two tranches, and were often varied on the final day of the term to retrospectively vary the rent.
  • Advised on the sale of a private equity and management owned company with historic tax issues surrounding the management sellers’ shareholdings, as well as a dispute over the corporation tax treatment of completion bonuses to longstanding staff.
