Solange is a partner in the Regulatory and Competition Group.
Solange is a highly experienced competition lawyer. She advises a broad range of aviation, maritime and energy clients on EU and UK competition and regulatory issues, as well as advising on data protection, international trade and EU sanctions. She represents clients in competition investigations, mergers, state aid, public procurement and delivers compliance training.
She has extensive experience in EU and UK competition compliance matters and in EU litigation before the European Commission and the UK CMA, as well as other EU national competition authorities, particularly in cartel proceedings. Solange also has significant expertise in follow-on damages claims before the UK courts.
Solange is dual qualified in Portugal and England and has been admitted to practice at the Paris Bar. She has practiced in Brussels, Lisbon, London and Paris, and during her career has worked at the Legal Service of the European Commission.
- Shipbuilding merger control, preparing notification and submission to the European Commission of a Shipbuilding JV and coordination of the merger filing in Asia and the US.
- Representing a defendant in the European Commission Airfreight cartel case and in the English High Court Litigation concerning the follow-on claims for damages further to the European Commission's decision in the Airfreight cartel case.
- Representing a defendant in the European Commission Liner Investigation relating to concerted practices and price announcements.
- Assisting a global shipping alliance with the EU competition law compliance review of its operations (including preparing the EU competition law self-assessment report and discussions with the EU regulators, and providing regular EU competition law compliance advice to the alliance members).
