Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised Aquila Aerospace LLC (“Aquila”), on the supply of one next-generation Challenger 650 aircraft to the UAE Air Force. The aircraft is part of a multi-mission configuration to update and expand the UAE’s maritime and airborne surveillance and search and rescue capabilities.
The aircraft is expected to be delivered to the modification centre in 2019, where Aquila, with the support of Bombardier’s Specialised Aircraft Division, will perform the modifications necessary to meet UAE Air Force requirements.
The WFW Dubai team advising Aquila was led by Aviation Partner Oliver Tebbit, assisted by Managing Associate Dhruv Paul.
Oliver commented “We are delighted to have advised Aquila in relation to this landmark transaction, leading to the signing of their first contract with the UAE Airforce. Our ability to work on innovative transactions such as this, reinforces WFW’s standing as a leading legal adviser in the general aviation space”.
