Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised BW Group Limited (“BW”), one of the world’s leading maritime groups in the tanker, gas and offshore sector, on the US$152,250,000 Japanese Operating Lease financing in respect of a 174,000 cbm LNG carrier, “BW Helios”.
The Singapore-flagged vessel, which is equipped with the latest ME-GI dual-fuel two-stroke engine and full reliquefication capabilities, will be bareboat chartered to a subsidiary company within the BW group and brings the group’s fleet of LNG vessels to 23 in total.
The WFW Hong Kong team advising BW on the transaction was led by Partner and WFW Asia Assets and Structured Finance Group Head Madeline Leong, supported by Counsel Valerie Lee.
Madeline commented: “We are delighted to have supported BW on their most recent Japanese Operating Lease financing. This transaction demonstrates both BW’s commitment to the move towards decarbonisation and WFW’s technical expertise in advising on alternative forms of financing”.
