WFW advises NAI on bareboat charterparty and sale of M/v Aethalia16 April 2025

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised NAI Int Malta Ltd. (“NAI”) on the bareboat charterparty and subsequent sale of the M/v Aethalia to TSL Panama SA, a company owned by Peru’s Transgas Shipping Lines SAC (“Transgas Shipping”).

The M/v Aethalia, a motor tanker built at Soli Deniz Cilik Ltd. shipyard in Istanbul in 2008, is currently registered with the Malta Ships Registry. Its sale and charter aligns with both NAI and Transgas Shipping’s strategic goals, enhancing their market position and operational efficiency.

NAI is a Maltese subsidiary of Italy’s Navigazione Montanari group, specialising in shipping products for the oil and petrochemical sectors. Transgas Shipping is one of the two sister companies of TRANSGAS, an international shipping company specialising in the transport of liquefied gas, oil and chemical products.

The WFW Italy Maritime team that advised NAI was led by Partner Furio Samela, assisted by Associate Sergio Napolitano.

Furio commented: “We are delighted to have successfully advised NAI on this strategic transaction. This mandate highlights WFW’s commitment to delivering top-tier legal services to the maritime sector, navigating complex transactions and achieving successful outcomes for our clients”.

Ganado Advocates acted as NAI’s Maltese counsel.
