Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) Madrid, as a founding member of the Spanish Pro Bono Foundation, is honoured to have advised the Fundación Francisco Luzón and other ALS focussed associations on setting up a National Confederation of ALS Organisations (“ConELA”) on a pro bono basis.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, is a degenerative disease of the nervous system that affects the neurons in the brain, brain stem and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement.
ConELA was founded by a group of organisations dedicated to protecting and supporting those with ALS, including Fundación Francisco Luzón, to better enable them to jointly work together to defend the rights of those suffering from the disease and achieve social and health equity throughout Spain.
The WFW Madrid team that advised ConELA comprised Partner Javier Ester and Associate Jaime Salazar. Javier and fellow Partner Ana Lorenzo lead WFW Madrid’s Pro Bono practice.
Javier commented: “We are delighted to have been able to put our legal skills and expertise at the service of Fundación Francisco Luzón and ConELA’s other founders for such a good cause that is an important step forward in the defence of the rights of people affected by ALS”.
