Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised independent French renewable energy producer Technique Solaire on the drafting and negotiation of a term sheet and green power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Air France.
The CPPA covers a 20-year period and will generate 13 GWh annually from two photovoltaic projects in France. It will enable Air France to source solar energy at a stable and competitive price over the long term and reinforces Technique Solaire’s position as a major player in France’s energy transition.
Founded in 2008, Technique Solaire specialises in the development, financing, construction and operation of renewable energy production units (solar and anaerobic digestion). The group operates around 300 MWp of photovoltaic power plants in France, India and the Netherlands and aims to have 1 GW in operation and under construction by 2025.
Air France is a major player in the airline industry and was named “Europe’s Leading Airline 2023” at the World Travel Awards. The group invests €1bn+ per year in the acquisition of new-generation aircraft to reduce their CO₂ emissions per passenger-kilometre by 2030.
The WFW Paris Regulatory & Public Law team that advised Technique Solaire was led by Partner Laurent Battoue, supported by Associate Juliana Brandao Marques.
