WFW advises The Wolseley Hospitality Group on construction of two new London restaurants  13 July 2023

Watson Farley & Williams LLP (“WFW”) has advised The Wolseley Hospitality Group on the construction aspects of their two new major London openings of 2023, ‘Manzi’s’ and ‘The Wolseley City’.

The new Manzi’s restaurant opened in Soho on 29 June 2023 to rave reviews and has been described as “perhaps the most significant restaurant opening of the year so far” by Esquire. Specialising in fish and seafood it pays tribute to the original Manzi’s which opened in London 1928. It is the first opening since The Wolseley Hospitality Group announced their expansion plans and is their first new opening following the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Wolseley City is due to open in the autumn in London’s financial district in an attractive and prominent location opposite London Bridge. It aims to capture the spirit of the original Wolseley restaurant on Piccadilly, but not be a replica. The original Piccadilly establishment is known for combining British heritage with European grandeur and has earned a reputation as one of London’s most respected restaurants. This opening will come off the back of a successful residency of Café Wolseley at the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, which demonstrated a demand for The Wolseley’s fine European fare beyond its London home.

The Wolseley Hospitality Group was founded in 2003 and encompasses some of London’s best-loved restaurants including The Delaunay, Brasserie Zédel, Colbert, Fischer’s, Bellanger and Soutine in addition to The Wolseley. Immaculate presentation, seamless and personalised service, charming interiors, and an all-day dining offering are some of the ingredients that make the group stand out from the competition. The Wolseley Hospitality Group is owned by Minor International Trading Company Limited (MINT).

The WFW London Construction team that advised The Wolseley Hospitality Group was led by Partner Barry Hembling working closely with Associates Jamie Bell, Trainees Kiera Jenkinson and Jack Forber, and Legal PAs Alice Parmar and Sarah Hudson.

Barry commented: “We are delighted to have advised The Wolseley Hospitality Group on the construction aspects of their exciting new restaurant openings. We advised within the tight timetable required for carrying out the works, which shows the excellence of our service offering and the construction sector expertise of our team. I am grateful to my team and colleagues for their support on this matter”.
