Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Ventient Energy (“Ventient”) on the acquisition of five operational onshore wind plants with a total installed capacity of 203 MW and the development of 240 MW hybrid photovoltaic plants to be built at Ventient’s onshore sites. The portfolio projects is located in the Spanish provinces of Palencia and Valladolid.
Ventient Energy, Europe’s largest independent onshore wind power generator, owns and operates assets across Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom with a current total installed capacity of 2.6 GW. This acquisition brings its onshore wind installed capacity to 2.8 GW, expands its five-year renewable energy building programme, strengthens intra-regional energy cooperation and furthers growth opportunities for renewable energy businesses in Spain.
The WFW Madrid Corporate team that advised Ventient on the transaction was led by Madrid Office Head and Partner María Pilar García Guijarro, working closely with Senior Associates Javier Ruffín and Juan Area Díaz de Atauri and Associate Borja Gavilá.
María Pilar commented: “It is a pleasure to advise Ventient on the expansion of their energy business. We look forward to continuing to advise and assist them and help realise their plans to become a ESG leader in the sector. This transaction, which combines onshore wind projects under operation with hybridised solar projects under development, consolidates our specialist renewables team’s reputation as the leaders in the Spanish market and further strengthens our relationship with key sector players”.
