WFW boosts German finance offering with new English law Partner hire in Frankfurt12 November 2018

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has expanded its highly regarded German finance practice with the hire of banking and project finance specialist Florian Kutzbach in Frankfurt. Prior to joining WFW, Florian was Counsel at Clifford Chance in the same city.

Admitted to practice in England & Wales, Florian has extensive experience advising on the development and financing of energy, natural resources and infrastructure projects, including project finance, export finance and corporate financing. He also has a strong background in corporate/commercial matters, including M&A and joint ventures. His clients include governments, developers, sponsors, borrowers, ECAs, multilateral organisations, international banks and other financial institutions.

Marcus Bechtel, WFW Germany Head, commented: “With his extensive expertise in energy and infrastructure project finance, Florian represents an exciting new addition to our German offering. Qualified in England & Wales, his arrival means we now also offer English law project finance expertise in Germany, which is important for many of our clients such as leading international banks who often finance transactions under English law. He also has exactly the right experience to help us further expand our Energy & Infrastructure practice beyond renewable energy into the broader sector as a whole, one of our key strategic goals in Germany”.

Managing Partner Lothar Wegener added: “Florian is ideally placed to help further develop and enhance co-operation between our Energy & Infrastructure specialists in London and Germany, and to play a key role in broadening our client base in the infrastructure sector”.

Florian said: “WFW’s first class reputation in and clear commitment to the energy and infrastructure sector makes it the obvious platform from which I can continue to service, expand and develop my practice and client base. It also offers the specialist expertise and flexible approach which will enable me to take advantage of current market opportunities”.
