Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is delighted to announce it has entered into a formal law alliance (“FLA”) in Singapore with highly regarded law firm Wong Tan & Molly Lim LLC (“WTL”). The alliance will be known as WFW & WTL.
Introduced by the Singapore Government to grant local law firms greater flexibility to collaborate with their international counterparts, the FLA structure permits integrated marketing, billing, client and legal services.
WTL focusses primarily on corporate and commercial, finance, dispute resolution and real estate matters. The firm’s client base encompasses domestic and international businesses, financial institutions and professional services firms, securities houses and public and supranational bodies.
WFW opened its Singapore office, the firm’s first in Asia, in 1998. It has established an excellent reputation advising local and international clients on corporate, finance and contentious matters, most notably in the maritime, aviation, energy (including oil & gas and renewables) and infrastructure sectors.
WFW Managing Partner Chris Lowe, who also headed up the Singapore office from 2001 to 2012 said: “Singapore was the firm’s first office to open in Asia and it remains a key hub for the Asia-Pacific region. Our alliance with WTL is another step forward in our strategic focus on strengthening our services offering within our core sectors. WTL’s areas of expertise in key services are a good fit for us and our sector approach gives WTL differentiation in a competitive market”.
Goh Mei Lin, the managing partner of WFW’s Singapore office added: “As WFW approaches its 20th anniversary in Singapore next year, our alliance with WTL, with whom we have worked for many years, marks the beginning of an important new era for both our firms. I am confident the synergies in our expertise and practices with sector focus will see us move towards the next stage of growth in a dynamic and expanding regional legal market”.
WTL Managing Director Sunny Wong added: “WFW is a leading international law firm known for its excellent know how, and pragmatic and innovative approach. WTL has been working with WFW since 1998 and is delighted to enter into the FLA with WFW. With this collaboration, the FLA will be able to offer an integrated Singapore and international law service to our respective clients, who will continue to benefit from a shared commitment to client dedication by the FLA”.
