WFW London Dispute Resolution Co-Head Rebecca Williams named in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 202028 January 2020

"We are ambitious for the future and, bringing a fresh outlook, are working closely together to take the Dispute Resolution Group from strength to strength."London Dispute Resolution Co-Head Rebecca Williams

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is delighted to announce that London Dispute Resolution Co-Head Rebecca Williams has been named by leading UK legal weekly The Lawyer as one of its Hot 100 2020. The Hot 100 “gathers together the best lawyers in the UK – the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers from in-house, private practice and the Bar”.

Rebecca was named in the Hot 100 2020 on the basis of her meteoric career rise – going from a senior associate tasked with building a new practice group at WFW from scratch to an award-winning group co-head in only five years.  That the group’s internal growth exceeded expectations by 75%+ over the past 12 months only reinforces her success.

Rebecca’s presence on the list also recognises various recent successes, including PBS Energo A.S. v Bester Generacion UK Limited – a “ground-breaking” High Court ruling handed down in April 2019 concerning the enforcement of adjudication decisions in cases of fraud where she and her team managed to gather strong and credible evidence that an award was obtained on the basis of fraud.

This is not the only high-profile award Rebecca and her team have recently received, with the team also achieving “Construction and Engineering Litigation Team of the Year” at the Legal Week Commercial Litigation and Arbitration Awards 2019 for their work on Bester (see here for more information).

Rebecca commented: “I’m deeply honoured to have been nominated to The Lawyer’s Hot 100. 2019 was a transformational year for WFW’s London Dispute Resolution Group, following the election of fellow Partner Andrew Ward and myself as co-heads. We are ambitious for the future and, bringing a fresh outlook, are working closely together to take the Dispute Resolution Group from strength to strength. It was also an excellent year for the Construction Disputes team with our award-winning success in Bester – a real team effort achieved thanks to the tenacity, ingenuity and hard work of everyone involved. Much like that award, my inclusion in the Hot 100 is very much thanks to the talented team of lawyers I have the privilege of working alongside and without whom none of this would have been possible”.
