WFW Senior Partner George Paleokrassas moves to New York28 February 2022

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is delighted to announce that newly elected Senior Partner and Global Maritime Sector Co-Head George Paleokrassas has moved across the Atlantic to head up the firm’s New York office. George replaces long-standing Office Head and highly regarded maritime finance Partner Daniel Rodgers.

George previously headed up the firm’s Athens office from 2005, growing it to become the largest international law firm in Greece and in the top five overall. He is universally recognised as one of the leading lawyers in the maritime sector both in Greece and internationally and is the only lawyer listed in top legal directory Chambers & Partners’ elite ‘eminent practitioner’ category for shipping finance in Greece.

As one of Greece’s foremost maritime lawyers, George is ideally placed to strengthen the connections between WFW Athens and New York given the deep maritime synergies between the two, with the firm already having a strong flow of work from the Greek market into New York. He will also work with the team in New York to further expand the firm’s footprint there within its core transportation and energy sectors.

WFW New York is one of the oldest offices in the firm’s international network, having opened its doors back in 1990 over 30 years ago. George’s move underlines WFW’s commitment to its core sectors and the importance of a strong international network of offices to support the increasingly complex, cross-border work it undertakes.

George commented: “I am grateful to Dan for leading the firm’s New York office for the last 11 years. I greatly look forward to working closely with my fellow partners and everyone in the office as we embark on the next chapter of our journey”.
