Our credentials already reflect our foothold in sustainability, from our involvement in the drafting of the Poseidon Principles to support the IMO’s goal to reduce shipping’s total annual greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2050, to advising the Vessel Technology Assessment System (VTAS) Project, which helps inform the maritime industry on the comparative benefits of different fuel efficiency technology, and in our role as principal advisers to the Aviation Working Group (AWG) in relation to the development of industry-wide environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles in aviation.
Sustainability concerns have rocketed up the transport agenda over the past decade and so we published The Sustainability Imperative, an in-depth report that examines the shipping world’s views on sustainability and governance, what the industry collectively sees as the way forward and what actions it is taking as a result. It also asks how these issues might affect the way the shipping sector finances itself and even the very structure of the industry.
